Hi all,i noticed a couple of weeks ago that our 12v charger seemed noisy n was feeling hot to touch, also lights didnt come on, despite being plugged in to the mains. Thought it was a leisure battery problem n replaced with a new one. Yesterday went to get van ready for trip away n noticed noise again from charger, like it's constantly charging. Took charger to battery place today n was told it's working fine, went to reconnect it tonight n lights wouldn't work again. Anyone got any ideas? Should the charger sound like it's constantly charging even when plugged to mains and nothing switched on? Going away tomorrow n wild camping so could do with correcting before we go .
What is the make of the charger?
If it is faulty try Apuljack engineering they repair/ refurbish nearly all the common makes of charger for caravans and motorhomes
It sounds like the diodes have given up in the charger and is constantly giving out full power.
Have you tried another battery to eliminate that it isn't causing the charger to work over its limit.
