Trier to Koblenz is not acually a very long route, but well worth doing. One alternative you might like to consider is to buy a Rhineland-Pfalz card which gives unlimited rail travel for up to 5 people for around 30Euro a day. This covers the Saar valley from Trier to Saarbrucken, the Mosel from Trier to Koblenz, and the Rhine from Koblenz to Mainz.

Hi Malcolm, We did a trip along '' Mother Moselle'' From Source to Koblenz several years ago and just had a decent German map and the ACSI book. Any non Acsi sites are well signed. Good luck with it.
