Hi, my first post as a new member so hope I'm in the right place! Would anyone have any advice or tips of somewhere to hire a minibus/camper van from that's not going to cost 3 times as much as my family camping holiday please?
My partner and I currently have to take 2 cars for us, our 3 teen boys and all the camping gear. It's not currently viable for us to buy a vehicle that fits the requirement for the once or twice a year that all of us go together and everywhere I've enquired at wants £400 upwards, it will literally take us from Essex to Dorset and back and not mover for the week we're there.
Any info/ideas welcome, thankyou
Hi Lisa. Welcome! I'm in Ayshire, no use to you far away in Essex. Hiring a motorhome ain't cheap, and to hire a minibus or 7-seater you'd just check with your local car hire firms, surely? Sounds a sensible idea though, given you have the kit.
Hi Lisa, If you're not moving once you're there, why not hire a static caravan ( one of those big 3 bedroom types) and travel down with your car. When our children were young it suited us. You're going to need to hire a big motorhome that's comfortable for 5 of you. Good luck with it.

Get a trailer or Peugeot Partner / Citroen Berlingo.
Son hired a motor home. 8 berth but it was more cramped than our little 13foot 2 berth caravan. Cost him a fortune but did look impressive from the outside.
Have you considered putting the partner and the teenagers on the train? The service is pretty quick to Dorset - at least from London - and discounted first class at weekends can even make it a pleasure. That would leave you with plenty of load space to and from, and the right size vehicle whilst you're there.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
