I recently purchased an awning rail to fit to my campervan conversion. I purchased a C rail (Brand - Crusader) that was listed as correct for my 6mm beaded awning.
It arrived today but its got quite a big bore to the C (10mm) and the gap that makes it a C not an O measures pretty much 6mm. This means that it is relatively easy to pull the bead out through the front of the C shape (hope this makes sense).
Is that normal (maybe a wind safety feature to stop the awning ripping apart) or is the gap too big?
If it is wrong, does anyone have a better Brand/solution.idea?
Thanks.
I know exactly what you mean, have had the same problem with a Kampa branded awning stop, the little bullet that you put in either/both end(s) of the c channel with the butterfly on it, to stop the bead of the awning, or kador rail webbing moving along the rail. I used to have a kador webbing strip with different size of bead each side, I know that one of those was 6mm but am unsure what the other was. We don't have that van now, and have changed the complete awning attachment. i.e. the double edged Kador strip, and the size of the beads on this are both 6mm. To fit a 6mm 'c' opening in the rail fitted to the van. Have you tried using this type of webbing/ (Kador)and the figure of 8( your 'c' that you have bought recently, and putting the webbing into that, and the figure of 8 plastic strip in to this and the other side for your awning bead?. This is the best way if you intend to be able to go out for the day (ie drive away )Google this, 'Driveaway awning kits. You will get a lot of diagrammatical pictures. I just did, and it lets me know that the other side of which I was not sure of, on the webbing, was more than likely 4mm. You can also watch videos, on youtube. Your van will not be as high as our coach built so will not require a 'TALL' awning. I had to grind down the Kampa bullets to get them into the fixed awning rail on the van, both stated they were 6mm. Good Luck.
