We never use campsite in France as there are so many aires (stopping places) varying from free to a couple of euros. If you get up around Le Torquet (about 50 miles north) there is one there we stayed at that had electric hookup & your own water supply for 5 euros. There are many sites listing these aires or you can buy a book when you get there. Look on the map for viewpoints & usually there is somewhere close to stay, most towns & villages have signs showing aire de services (a blue & white sign with a camper on) talk to any british motorhome camper owners when you get there & they will usually tell you of any good aires close by.

You've probably already done this but just incase check for legal requirements of driving a vehicle abroad. You now have to carry a reflective vest while driving in France and if my memory is correct I believe you also need to carry a full set of spare bulbs for your vehicles lights

kontakali. you should get a book on campsites in france. Alan Rodgers is a good one. while i am sure some people prefere aires and get no problems i would not use them because you can be targeted by the many thieves that prey on us in these places. the french authorities do not reccommend you stay at them overnight.if you stop on them during the day they are safe enough but with the prices on french campsites very reasonable why take the chance, at least until you are more experienced over there. i will say though you will enjoy france. the roads are superior and the countryside can be fantastic. do not believe the nonsense that the french hate us. try to be sociable to them and they are no different to us.(well most of us). welcome to the site and good luck to you on your travels, tom
