Have a Toyota Hiace - with a wind out awning. The van was imported from Japan and purchased from a dealer at Chesterfield
Anyone know how I would attach a driveway awning - tried a standard figure 8 kit and would not slide onto rail going round the van. There is a slit under the wind out awning tried to thread the 6mm kador through it and it fell out -
Anyway I have sent the kit back now - clearly not the right attachment
Would appreciate any advice
Thanks
surprised the figure of 8 doesn't fit your gutter, if you look at gallery images you'll see a pic of my old hiace with the awning attached,
could you put a thin pole inside the lip of awning the sit the pole in the gutter and clamp it down like
Figure of 8 as far as I am aware (think) is the same size on both sides. However Kador rail/webbing has the advantage of being different sizes. You can have equal/same (i.e 6mm x 6mm) OR 4 and 6. You say the 6mm fell out of the channel on the underside of the roll out. Most roll outs have a front facing, and I will use your words 'slit' sometimes they have two, one above the other. Each of those slits will be the same size, and each will be blocked off on opposite ends. The open ends of both being the point of entry. The reason for the blanked ends, is to enable you to make the choice, and use of which end /side of the van is the door on.
Have a look, as I am unsure, if Kador comes in 8mm. I believe that it does, but may need tracking down.
Also, I had a Toyota Hi ace, (wish I still had her) so I know that you have the possibility of putting on the roof a set of roof bars. (You only need the one!) into the sockets up there. You could put a rail on that roof bar of the size that you need to attach the Kador. It is aluminium, screws on, and is called 'c' section . The figure of 8 is made to attach to the free side of the webbing, and the 'piped' tunnel end of your awning. Hope this helps, it is difficult to describe. It makes sense to me...But then I wrote it LOL.
Hi we have a Fiamma 45 wind out awning attached to our VW T4 Autosleeper camper. I wind out about 150mm of awning then attach a strip of kador which has a 4mm bead along one edge & 6mm along the other edge. The 4mm slides into the Fiamma then I slide the the figure of 8 (6mm) along the 6mm kador edge. Then slide the 6mm bead of the awning into the fig. of 8. Then wind in the awning to take up any slack. Hope this helps! 👍🚐
