My Camper Van is now 10 years old and not had a problem like this before. I replaced the original leisure battery earlier this year with the same maker and model. I charge the battery off the mains at home and after a drive of 3 to 4 hours the leisure battery is almost flat despite the fact there is no obvious drain on it eg fridge switched off etc. Sitting static on the drive way the battery retains its charge but only loses it when driving.
This seems to indicate that the leisure battery is draining off somewhere where it should not when the engine is running. Is this possible ? Any ideas ?

Leisure battery charges via a split charge relay while driving so this could be faulty. I'm assuming here your camper is factory built with correctly installed electrics?
Thanks for your comments OS. Yes, the van was built by La Strada with electrics which have always been good so far.
Where would I find this split charge relay and what does it look like ?

Google image split charge relay to see what you are looking for. Trace the cables back from leisure battery & you will find it. Do you have the knowledge to work on electrics? You will need a volt meter to find out what is happening.
