Hi I have a Machzone sovereign A class 2002, the windscreen has cracked from top to bottom, I have found out that they are no longer being made so it can not be repaired, my insurance co have tried for a month and have now said it can not be repaired or replaced, I am not sure if this makes the motorhome a 'wright off' it cost over 20k a few months ago.
has any body any experience in these matters as I am very very worried we will loose everything, will they just pay me for the screen that can'not be replaced or is the vehicle a total loss? any ideas.
Thanks. Stuart.
Try somewhere like Breakers Yard - they may be able to help find a replacement screen. Maybe a long shot buy they might be able to help. I've used them a lot in the past to find obscure bits for older vehicles and their service was excellent. Can you not get info from manufacturers as to whether there are any other windscreens that would fit?
It seems to me rather odd that, even for a vehicle that's 15 years old, someone cannot get a replacement windscreen. After all, unless you're making the journey to the south of Spain for example several times a year or it's your only vehicle, motor homes often do huge mileages and keep their value.

Have you tried contacting Glenns Motorhomes in Nottingham who owned the Machzone factory? They may have spares or know the manufacturer of replacement parts.
Hi Thanks for the replies, I have contacted Glenns who tell me that no more available and the screen was made to fit the motorhome only, no others fit.
I will try breakers and keep looking, worried about the insurance though as they were under contract to replace so not sure what happens next.
Stuart.
Google made to measure windscreens & go from there. It does appear it is possible to have a curved laminated windscreen custom made. I just had a quick read up but worth investigation.
I can not imagine the being in this position. This is why we all buy our insurance, for the peace of mind it gives. But if I were you I would have a look around for a windscreen of a similar shape and size if all else fails. The supplier/builder? of the van, who it seems you have spoken with, would definitely know if that windscreen was available 'new' or not now. SO...ask them again now which may be the most similar screen to your actual vans. Armed with this extra information, you could then search on line for either breakers of that type of vehicle (or manufactures of that vehicle). If then, neither the exact or very similar is available You will then need to find a very competent body repair shop to make the 'next best' windscreen fit exactly should you be unlucky. I would also check the wording of your insurance document to be exactly certain of the cover you do indeed have on the windscreen. The whole vehicle insurance is with the same company remember, and I would scrutinise the whole vehicle insurance policy. It may be a technical detail that could get you out of this. If the glass breaks and cannot be repaired for whatever reason and you were insured for replacement. I wonder, as you do, what happens next. But it could be they say it is not repairable and then the question is, does that mean is it a write off. Take advice from some one in the business...not your insurance company. See exactly where this windscreen insurance starts and finishes. Find out if it sits separately or is within the policy. If you paid as extra for windscreen cover, and windscreen is NOT repairable by anyone, surely that would mean your vehicle is not repairable 'no matter' that it is not a bodywork write off, and therefor you would receive your write off. Very difficult indeed for you. I so hope that it becomes an easier job than it seems at this moment. Good luck.
