We bought a Mobilvetta K Yacht techno line 85 from new in March 2017 and have had problems with it since we bought it including electrics and breakdowns. Our dealer Marquis have had the vehicle back for 2 months but some problems still not fixed. Anyone else had similar problems and how is best to deal with it ? Not what we expected when we bought a brand new motorhome😞
I think I would be asking for my money back and look for something else. I certainly wouldn't put up with Marquis keeping the vehicle for two months and still not sorted it.
I would not suggest buying any vehicle brand new...let somebody else sort out the teething problems first.
That’s terrible, I’m really sorry you’ve had this experience. I agree with Bob - I wouldn’t be happy with Marquis keeping the MH for this long.
I would step up the pressure a bit and start asking for your money back. Literally, pester them on a daily basis and only deal with the manager. I think it’s also worth getting in touch with Trading Standards to get some advice from them.
You may well have already searched online for your rights as a buyer but you may be interested in this website
There are other similar advisory sites online which may be more informative. I think I would be kicking up and threatening court action after the first week!
What are the problems & why are they taking so long to fix? Is it spare parts availability? Are the problems with the base vehilce or the habitation? If they do not fix vehicle properly soon then you will have grounds for rejecting it but it might be better if it could be fixed once & for all. If problems are with component parts then just changing those parts should fix it properly.
Dealer should be prepared to discuss faults with vehicle & what they intend to do to fix them properly in a rational & cooperative way. Are they doing that?

Thanks for your message we are trying to get our money back but Marquis havent been very helpful!
On another forum a consumer who also bought from Marquis rejected a caravan as being unfit for purpose. It took 18 months for them to get back their money plus compensation and costs.
I strongly advise you to gte onto Trading Standards as it is a criminal offense not to comply with statutory law. From this point onwards keep everything in writing and no more phone calls. There is no paper trail with a phone call.
I recently rejection a caravan and also went through the mill however we were done and dusted in three months as I joined Which Legal services and got good sound advice on consumer law from them. The cost to join is about £90 a year and includes the magazine.
Thank you for all your advice it really is apprecaited.
I wrote the post out of frustration and I shoudl explai a bit more as to what's happened since we bought the va in March.
The problems with our van initially had been with the habitation eg some minor faults and others more serious which are electrical faults ( rear habitation lights not working a, heated windcreen and underfloor heating not working ( still unresolved ) central locking broken plus a recall for a gas connection. The van was with Marquis for 6 weeks to repair these faults in May/June.
However we then broke down twice in France due to mechanical faults while we were away in July and on one occasion we lost all power on the motorway smoke poured out of the vents and we had to pull over on the hard shoulder and then be recovered to a Fiat garage due to the radiator overheating for this to be rectified.
This ruined our holiday and at that point we decided to reject the vehicle on our return in August.
We have written letters to Marquis's MD and we have been made an offer to buy the van back from us but no admission .The offer is considerably less the amount paid for the van and no compensation for the loss of use or enjoyment of our holiday. We will be thousands of pounds out of pocket if we accept this offer. The alternative is for them to fix all the problems but as they had the van for nearly 2 months last time we are really concerned about this.
We now have taken legal advice and have decided to instruct solictors to deal with the matter on our behalf as we have cover under our household insurance.
Thank you once again for all your replies.
I have tried to contact Trading standards, however, can not find a way to do this direct . I had to contact a Consumer hotline. Would anyone know if you can speak to them directly ?
Thank you

As recommended in an earlier post, join Which Legal Services for expert consumer advice. Cost is about £90 a year plus a monthly magazine.
If the unit is on HP have you notified the finance house of the rejection as they own the motorhome? We went to CAB initially and if we had taken their advice we would be several thousand pounds out of pocket so be careful as CAB is now the mouthpiece for Trading Standards.
When we rejected our 2016 we went to a solicitor and £550 later we were not further. I actually knew more about consumer law than the solicitor. Beware unless the solicitor is an expert in the Consumer law you may be throwing away money hence WLS is a better option
Contact the Citizens Advice Bureau who will contact Trading Standards on your behalf. I can't remember the exact procedure now but when I had cause to contact Trading Standards via CAB I had no problems and the issue was dealt with. Nothing is immediate of course but I eventually got a satisfactory reply from Trading Standards.
Which legal is a great idea, they just love these stories, my advice make an appointment with the M.D. of your dealer, try to resolve with them, if your not happy tell them your taking it to which legal.
Good look, just don’t give up it may be a long journey.

Thats correct, they are not called Trading Standers now but Consumer something.
I am in process of rejecting a 2017 motorhome from a supposedly high-end German builder. It has spent two months in the workshop, many original issues unresolved and I still have a new 6+ pagelist of issues. Pretty well everyone I spsoke to on my last trip had similar issues with the same builder, but they seem to be endemic to the motorhome and caravan industry.
As a result of my experience and as a journalist I am starting an investigation of the industry. I may well turn it into a camapaign for more effort on quality/ reliability/ usability and less on superficial bling.
I can be reached by email news at M-dash.com if you are happy to share your experiences, on or off the record.
