Hi, looking for something to make our T5 RNR bed a bit more comfortable. Have seen the Duvalay memory foam based sleeping bags, anyone used them?? Would appreciate some honest reviews? Was tempted by the topper, but we don't have that much storage space, are they bulky does anyone know? We're going for 2 weeks in the van in summer, so want to make it as comfortable as poss. Any reviews or recommendations appreciated. Cheers

We use the 2.5 duvalay, they are ok but the mattress is not that wide only the same width as a single caravan seat, as for storage we leave ours laid out over the seats, we used to bag them but they don’t roll up that small, they are ok a little overpriced in my opinion but if I was buying again I would buy the 5mm ones instead as we leave them in situ.

If you haven’t got room for a topper I doubt if you’d have room for a Duvalay unless you leave it on the seat during the day. Have you thought of putting another duvet underneath you? Takes up a lot less room and squishes down. I did that on my bed at home and it made a huge difference.

They are bulky so we leave them laid out on the sofa's. the storage bags are not well made anyway and the zips and seams came unstitched from the start. I toss and turn a lot so the mattress tends to ride up at the side but at least the quilt keeps me covered. I don't like memory foam but my husband loves his.

Thanks chaps for your honest reviews. I'm tempted to just give the sleeping bags a whirl and see what they are like. Will just get 1 for now and test it before I go the whole hog an buy 4! :) Will let you know how I get on x

We are not fans of memory foam, it gets too hot to sleep and is bulky to roll up. Also not fans of sleeping bags, keep turning over and end up 'corkscrewed'!
We bought two nice soft toppers from dunelm and summer weight duvets, very comfortable and easily stowed under the seats during the day.
In the winter we put them into storage bags, suck the air out and they space save in the van.

Good luck at finding what's right for you.

Hiya, just flagging this post up again to see if anyone else has anything to add?

We have a wider than normal r&r bed in our camper and have tried various mattress toppers (a dunelm topper - comfy but big; a camping mattress - again v big and doesn't roll up) but they're all so bulky to store and take up precious space.

I was fancying the Duvalay sleeping bag set up but then the comment about the mattress 'riding up' is putting me off. Also my husband is pretty tall and on the large side so I'm wondering if the Duvalays will be wide enough?

Any info would be much appreciated.

You can make your own duvalay if you’re handy with a sewing machine. But I can’t stand a sleeping bag as I starfish & like to stick my foot out in summer. We just use a standard mattress topper like at home, with corner straps, to hold the cushions together & keep them clean. Then a sheet on top & a duvet (from home, chosen to suit the season) to finish. They all go under the bench seat during the day.
Storage of any bedding takes up space.

That's roughly what we do at the mo.

Do you reckon we won't save on space then? It's a lot of money to spend if we're no better off : (

Camp chaos. Your location is listed as ‘up north’
We are also up north (Staithes) and we use the Duvalays. You are welcome to pop over to have a look and see how they work in your van.

I am 5 11 and use the full duvaly setup. We leave them down in the day on single beds. The big kit comes with 2 duvalys. 10 and 2 tog and 2 covers and matching pillows. I have slept like a log since using them. Expensive yes but I have a very bad back and the setup gives me no problems.

Thanks Manty. Do you find that it rides up during the night, as mentioned in a previous post?
