Bike racks on double doors. Please remember that you do need a different way of fixing the rack for 'double door' vans. You must order it that way. They need to be fixed to just one door.(the one that is opened first).
Next thing to remember is, that luggage and bike racks have their own weight capacity. Whatever you put on it will increase that weight.
Racks are sold as both 'bike' racks and as 'luggage' racks. You can easily put luggage boxes/Bags on a bike rack. The don't just hold bikes. However with a VWt5, you may want to buy one to do two things. i.e. luggage and/or bikes. Thus making the outlay of the pennies not so hard to stomach. Bike racks have extras on them to hold the bikes on/in to the racks. They may therefore be more expensive. Luggage racks really are just bike racks without the 'v' on the load deck rails for the wheels. Racks should really have warning signs on them to make other road users aware that they do extend the length of your vehicle.
With the 'bike rack, you will find it simple to add your extras in a bag. Certainly make sure that the 'bag is lockable if you intend to leave the vehicle unattended, and that the bag is locked onto the rack.
f you start now, you could well find a rack...on here in the free adverts. Or place one yourself that you need one.
