This is a really stupid question. We have a Sargent EC155 Power Control System.   Do we have to switch the red button on when we are driving so that it charges the leisure battery???

I don't think any question is stupid at all. If you don't know the answer you need to ask, or look it up somewhere like here.
As I am not familiar with that system I can't answer which button it may be. Some one who is, or has one, will no doubt be able to help you soon.

In case someone else has the same question I called Sargent and they very kindly talked me through. You don't have to put it on as it automatically charges the leisure battery from the alternator. You only have to switch it on when you want to charge either battery from hook up! How clever is that!
