Does anyone have any tips for how to get your vehicle back in the same place so the awning reattaches properly?

If you place spare tent pegs at the side of your front and rear wheels it helps.

Thanks, I'd be worried about running them over though.

I use a pair of Tyre Traction Mats set up as wheel markers - no problem driving over them as they are flat, can be fixed to the ground using the side holes, they fold up so store easily and might even be handy if extra traction was ever needed on wet grass!!!
They cost about £12 from Amazon.

Why do you not carry three cricket stumps, you can place one each side and one in the middle ? Then it would be easier to line your van with the awning.

You could use a pole so you back up till you get the near side mirror in line then stop

We place a tarp under the awning groundsheet to protect it and keep it dry making it easier to pack away. The tarp is oversized so it will also be in the tunnel up to the van wheels, therefore the tarp marks the spot!

We always have a couple of rubber mats in the camper, and we use these to line up along side the front and back tyres, it doesn't matter then if we run over them.
