Just ordered my first small van conversion a 2009 Toyota HiAce Fieldmaster which will be converted by Poplar Motors in Chesterfield. I currently have an airbeam tent and like the concept so I'm looking for advice on a similar design as a driveaway awning suitable for the van. It will be fitted with a 3m Flamma wind out awing if this helps. I know this topic has been covered previously but products change and new designs are being introduced all the time.
We got the 3 Fiamma side panels which were cheaper than their Privacy Room. It's not so sophisticated but for the amount of times we use it (0-2 times a year) it was enough. It's not driveaway though but I'm not a fan of them. Had one with that came a VW many years ago & it was a PITA. We've only had our van converted this year but have used it for last 3.5 years for camping & we just parked beside our bigtent & used the Fiamma canopy to bridge the gap. We'd sometimes put one of the Fiamma side panels on as a windbreak. As we already had the tent there was no additional cost & there was no faffing on aligning the van when we came back & the tent was dead easy to seal up & remained streamlined against high winds more so than a slab-sided driveaway. If it was just me & the lad we sometimes took the small tent & pitched it so the porch was under the awning. As far as pitch fees go we were always booked in as campers rather than campervan plus tent.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
