Hi All

Just bought our first T25 Camper Van and will be sending our son to collect on Sunday.

Looking for an insurance company who would cover five drivers on a very occasional basis (mostly the van would be sitting on our drive). Also any immobiliser products you could recommend would be great too.

Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Immobiliser product, thieves will bypass them all, you could try chaining it to a ground anchor or take a couple of wheels off, bit drastic but how much do you treasure your new van?

Are you sure the van doesn't already have a factory immobiliser?

How old is the van?

For insurance, you may be able to get insurance that covers any driver over a certain age (25 or 30?) who is driving with your permission.

Alan Boswell May be able to help. I have self drive hire insurance with them for my T5 and can add four other drivers who help with the 'business'. I know you’re not planning to rent it out but they may still have a product that would suit. I’ve found them reasonably priced and extremely helpful, I’ve rung with loads of questions.

Most insurance companies will let you add up to 4 drivers. Here's an article (https://www.nimblefins.co.uk/average-cost-motorhome-insurance) on how insurance companies will charge more for additional drivers. Maybe worth a look before you contact a company for quotes.

Thanks to all who posted. Very helpful advice all round. Had to settle for four named drivers although we did identify one insurer who’d allow five.

Regards

I had a car stolen a lot of years ago. A fortnight later, the Police phoned to say that they had it. When I went to collect it, I asked the question and was told that if they want it, they will take it. So all you can do is make things as difficult as possible. I fitted a simple toggle switch under the dash that broke a wire in the engine bay. Some months later, the thing was pinched again, but I found it at the bottom of the hill as it just wouldn't start. Fumm face steering wheel locks seem pretty good and maybe a simple wheel clamp. My own one is parked at home on a pair of ramps, so it would have to be got off them before they were moved out of the way, and then got out of my gateway .oo slow and noisy. I also have the secret switch!
