Hello, Happy New Year.

Advice please if anyone can.
The Thetford fridge in my camper works fine off battery and mains but refuses to function of lpg.
Before I get a specialist involved I thought I would just check the operation of the solenoid valve that is in the gas feed to the burner. (The igniter appears to be working when selected, but the flame does not light).
The solenoid valve is a kit supply from Thetford No. 631249. (I tried to paste a picture into this message but it does not happen, if you want to see what I am referring to just put a search on google with the description and number and something will appear).

1) I have got the valve on the bench and tried putting 12v through the connections on the solenoid,(one to earth and one to each in turn of the two remaining connections) then "blowing" through the valve to see if it functioned. The valve is not opening.
2) I have taken the solenoid off the valve to see if it magnetises a bolt when the bolt is placed into the hole for the valve spindle - nothing happens.
3) I have a 12v test lamp - connect to the battery and then to the earth on the solenoid and try each of the two other connections on the solenoid - nothing.
4) Ignoring the earth connection on the solenoid I connect the two (what I presume to be live terminals) to the test lamp and battery - there is a continuity here but it must have resistance because the light is lit but less bright than if connected direct to both terminals on the battery.

Does anyone know how I can confirm the solenoid (and the associated valve) is functioning - or not - by other tests than described above.

Thanks for looking.
JohnT
