we bought a new van 12 months ago, there are two Fiamma roof vents with sliding fly screens. These are already full of dust etc and need to removed and cleaned or replaced. But I can’t see how to do this easily and where to source replacements.

Any suggestions?

Yes thanks for your helpful reply. I did indeed search past threads on this topic but I could not find anything in past threads on this topic that helped me at all.

If they are the type with a concertina sliding mesh fabric fly screen, I cleaned the dead bugs, leaf litter and whatever other debris out of mine without any dismantling.

Simply use a crevice nozzle on a decent vacuum cleaner. Partially open screen, place crevice nozzle into gap so effectively above screen level, then gently tap screen from below to cause debris to rise out of deep recesses, the vacuum will suck it away. Need to move nozzle back and forth across width of vent and persevere a little with tapping, but removed every last visible bit of debris from my 3 vents.

If it's the square roof vents then usually there are 4 screws (one at each corner) securing it to the ceiling. Just remove the four screws and carefully take down the skylight which dismantles and the roller screen is secured by a round spigot at each end.

Open the screen so it drops down. Vacuum and/or steam clean. You shouldn't need to take the screen off.

Use YouTube. Ours needed totally replacing at 3yrs due to cord & Glue failure(£90k Motorhome!) E Bay proved to be half the cost of buying a new one via an authorised outlets. I fully appreciate what an authorised network of dealers offer and provide, hence a cost differential. I had to use common sense as our warranty had expired & I undertook the simple replacement myself that was only a push fit of the Fly Screen/Night Screen to the roof. However, it does bring into question how a retailer can be selling current stock at less than 50% than that of the dealers charge to buy over the counter? Of course if I had it fitted I would then have the added cost of labour & vat on that too, whereas my labour is vat free(lol!) The skill level required on a Cathargo for this particular job was a 5/10
Hope this was/is of help to someone outhere. Regards, JS.

It's why Main Dealers of anything at all are called Main Stealers.
