Hi everyone I would like to know if it's possible to run a 12v dvd player off of a leisure battery and if so how do I go about it? I am a race track marshal and often away at the weekends at a track somewhere in the uk and wanted something to do when the weather is not so good of an evening. My motorhome is fitted with a decent leisure battery and a fixed solar panel. Many thanks in advance.
I would like to connect it so the leisure battery works it and not the normal 12v ie the cigarette lighter as I think it would drain the engine battery.
Unless you were playing music at full volume for hours on end, I don't think you would make much impression on your starter battery. Otherwise, as said, just get a lead with the appropriate plug. If you haven't got a 12V. socket, then a pair of croc clips and go straight on to the battery (ideally with an inline fuse).

I'm tired of reality, so I'm off to look for a good fantasy.
I would not recommend connecting the player directly to either battery. Lead acid battery voltage will vary from approximately 9v to as high as 16v. At the lower end of the range the DVD is unlikely to operate, at the higher end you are likely to fry the circuitry. You should use a voltage stabilizer

This thread is over a year old so my warning may be too late for Johnathan, but hopefully others will be forewarned.
