I've not been on here for awhile, sadly Malc died in January, so I've been a bit lost really.
We only had our caravan for one season and loved it, easier for Malc having bathroom on board etc, but now I'm on my own I just couldn't face towing it alone, in fact I can't even go in it anymore, so a friend has it for sale for me.
So wondering what to do, everyone said take at least a few months before you decide, I was adamant I'd go back to another airbeam tent. But I haven't, I'm now the proud owner of a Ford Duetto 1995 Autosleeper. It's just the ticket for me and Cooper our dog. Desperately wanted a Classic Hymer, but too big for our drive and I didn't want to go down the route of storage again.
So it's called Monty after our the previous dog to Coops. Got one night booked away to try it all out and a weekend with grandkids later in July.
Well done for striking out on your own with your dog, and best of luck - I am certain you will enjoy camping in your van.
I too have to change from camping in a tent to a custom-converted camper van, ETA late September 2020 or later, dependent upon the build date in VW's factory in Germany, due to health related issues, and I do not wish to tow a caravan. Looking forward to camping again as I have not camped since the last trip in 2018!

Thank you
Nice one, good luck hope all goes well.
I do miss the tent it was huge, so much room.
Camper not as much room as the caravan, but I have a roll out awning and a Quest day room, that's for longer stays and grand kids can sleep in it too.
I think you are doing the right things, after loss its hard to get going again everythings the same but not, what to do well one thing is do what you've enjoyed before but with changes so that its not trying to emulate the past and your choice sounds good, meet new people make new friends the camping caravaning motorhoming folk are nothing if not friendly, interest and distraction are good. I lost my better half some years ago, its not the same but there are still good times, hope to see you out there one day.
duffs54, there's a forum just for Autosleepers, which we found handy with our '93 reg Clubman for the occasional really specific thing that we can't find answers to here. Some handy ideas for little additional things to make it more convenient or comfortable. It's free, just need to register. (There is another forum that costs, but I wouldn't bother.)
I'm sure you'll have many happy times with Cooper. It's a neat vehicle, you won't find it too big to manoeuvre, and I've seen plenty of solo campers sat outside them with their tea or G&T. You'll miss Malc, for sure, but I bet he'd approve.

Thank you, looking forward to meeting people, I'm a chatter box so I'll be hopefully easier.
I'm on the Autosleeper forum, had some help already, and a FB group for Duettos.
Joining groups is a brilliant way to learn. I was in the tenting area for years, lots if help, then just 1or in the caravan section, now here lol xx
