Hi all, we're getting a campervan and would be grateful for some advice as to which club would be best to join; I'm most interested in best value/good sites/ biggest discounts (of course!).
Manybthanks!
Andrew
You will find different people like their particular choice of club for a particular reason or two. I prefer the Camping and Caravan Club as most if not all of my camping is done with the clubs district association (DA)
Google Camping and Caravan Club DA's for a definition of this cheaper camping option.
I joined CAMC a couple of months ago as I wanted to book well in advance for an event that I would like to attend next year in my van, right next to one of their club sites.
I would probably keep my options open and remain as a member for both clubs for the time being.

Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Purely a matter of individual choice I think. I am a member of the C&CC and have been for quite a few years, but it's probably because I came to their stand first at a caravan show if I'm honest.
However, many years ago I was a member of what was then the Caravan Club, now the C&MC, and I didn't get a very good impression of them. I tend to have older units, and I found the Caravan Club a bit snobbish. Every site we went on seemed to want to tuck us away somewhere in a corner out of the way, we never got any of the better pitches as these seemed to be reserved for those with "posh" caravans. That may also have influenced my decision. I also have the impression, perhaps wrongly, that C&MC sites are a bit too regimented for what we like. We prefer sites with random pitches where you can set up any way round that you like, rather than precisely placed all in neat rows. Of the larger sites, the C&CC Sandringham site is just such a site. There are parts of it that are in lines, but at the top near the entrance it's a case of somewhere over there will do as long as your EHU lead reaches your post.
Although not a member of either club, as someone new to camper vanning I would suggest the C & CC for a year solely for their THS (temporary holiday sites) and CS (certificated sites) these are run by their local District Associations by volunteers and are good value, they are the only part of the club I miss anything else they do can usually be found cheaper else where and as you get experienced you will soon find other independent farm sites and small campsites to suit you. Or you could join the wild camper fraternity but please camp responsible and leave no trace if you do
And if you decide to travel in Europe make sure that you join the ACSI scheme, for really good discounts. They do have a few UK sites in their books so it might be worth considering for here too.
And remember, UKCS has far more sites in its directory than either club has in its handbook. We’re in C&CC but I use UKCS to see where to go next. There aren’t many Club sites in the parts of Scotland where we tend to go either.

I also mainly use UKCS for our choice of sites too. We certainly don't always use C&CC sites even though we have been members for some years.
When searching for sites, I tend to check C&CC (and now CAMC too) first, then come to UKCS to check the reviews for the ones I am interested.
My favourite site is an independent site I found via UKCS, can't remember if it was based on reviews alone or recommendations that I read in UKCS.
