My van is on a Citroen Relay 2.2, which I'm told uses Ford Transit mechanics. If you want any inspiration, have a look at the Romahome R30.
You will see that it has 4 seats so it can act as a big car and the gas locker is under the rear near-side seat.

It's well designed and has loads of storage, so maybe some ideas for you.
