Been out a couple of times in our new van based on a Fiat Ducato. At one point I was getting a warning symbol, alternating with the gear shift symbol, with a trailer and the word max. Is this possibly an overloading warning of some description? I had just moved the position of my mother's wheelchair, so no increase of weight in the van. It doesn't appear to be mentioned in my manual or anything I can find online.
Just guessing but if it happens just before you change up a gear it could be telling you max revs in that gear meaning it is time to move up a gear, as I said that is just a guess. If in doubt ask your nearest fiat dealer .
