Hi all,
can anyone help 🤔please.
We've just bought a 2nd hand vw transporter Topaz 1995 it comes with an awning Royal Traveller 3. By any chance would anyone have any assembly instructions ? for this ?
Thanks in advance😊
I was going to say welcome to UKCS, but you joined in 2016 even though this is your first post. If you use the Search facility, there’s a thread about this awning, dated 2007 (I think). You’ll also find the same thread if you Google, and there are also YouTube videos that show assembly.
Hi Ya Pentland 606.
Welcome to the Motorhomes and campervan section.
Changing from Caravan to Camper van is not difficult, especially when it comes to the awning erection side of things.
Do you have an awning rail on the camper? That would be the best way to attach it. However it is not the only way. You do not even have to attach it to the side entry door. You could attach it to the back door and it makes no difference if the back door raises or opens one side. You also do not need to attach it. More often, we never attach ours to our Motorhome.
I would, if I was about to an erect any awning for the first time, look to the internet. Put the name of, it size of it etc. into google and somewhere you will find details of how to start.
IF you cant find out anything about your awning, Take it into home, zip up every zip, and fiddle it around on the floor in the dry. Best of luck and best of all...ENJOY.
Apologies, I didn’t know you’d changed outfit, because that info doesn’t show up on the phone screen version of UKCS.
I’d say don’t assume you’ll want to use the awning all the time, see how you go: you might need the extra room outside, but it will also take up valuable space & weight in your camper when you’re touring that might displace something else.
As Austins says, enjoy.
Don’t see why not. There’s a photo of an awning fitted onto the roof of a doblo that’s for sale on eBay. Might not be the same model? - it had side windows high up.
Hi ya Wee billy, I do not think that we would want to have a roll out 'fitted' to any van again. We have had 3 roll outs on our 3 vans, having had three changes of vehicle. (I guess we learned the hard way) I can not say that they 'nearly' justify the cost. Simply because the shade the vehicle gives you is only increased by as much as maybe 2 1/2 foot of shade. But that is for only both, a small amount of time and shade on a very sunny day. It would be less costly to just turn the van around to take advantage, of the the sun / shade you require.
I would seriously think of a stand alone gazebo, less dosh, easier to move nearer/away/or even sideways to take advantage of any shade. Plus you do not have to sit side by side, and believe me that is a nuisance. We like to sit around a table. Rain will fall and a gazebo will shelter both you and your table and chairs. Welcome aboard Wee Willy, enjoy.
