Can anyone offer any advice on the fixing/replacing of back door lock, key is completely spinning.

Possibly a firm called Caraloc may be able to help. They supply caravan locks.

Youtube will show how to fit and remove them etc.

It's a lock for a Renault Trafic door, not a caravan type lock. He will find one on Ebay, or Facebook

Problem not so important anymore.. thanks for all help muchly appreciated. Have discovered it locks/unlocks from inside of van I can manage to squeeze my small hand down to reach lever hubby, has no chance his hands like shovels lol.
