Anyone know if there is any dealer in the UK that sell LHD or RHD Spanish registered motorhome.
Thank you.

Would that be legal? I don't know, I'm just asking.

I would have thought that any vehicle sold be a dealer in this country would have to be British registered, but I could be wrong.

Gumtree seems to have cars that fit the brief. Not many though, so I expect the choice of MHs will be very slim indeed.

Gumtree would be private sales I would imagine, and I'm not sure whether any dealer would be allowed to, or even want to, sell foreign-registered MHs. I would imagine that if any came their way they would re-register them in Britain before attempting to sell them.

Answer would be no. A dealer could sell you a Lhd motorhome but it would be registered in UK. You might buy a Spanish reg motorhome privately from a Brit who had returned to UK but too dodgy to even contemplate as you might take it to Spain & find it had been stolen so have it taken off you by local cops.

If you are moving to Spain then buy a Lhd motorhome in UK where it could be cheaper than buying locally in Spain & get it registered in Spain. But you would need to check implications of importing motorhome from UK now we are no longer in EU.

Probably easier to buy in Spain if you intend to live there.

I’m confused by conflicting information. You wanted to buy a Spanish registered MH here, but you can’t afford its Spanish plates when you’re in Spain. Surely (as suggested) that means you buy LHD here & go to Spain with UK plates for your 90 days? If you’re going to be a resident in Spain, why don’t you buy from a dealer out there?
You posted last year, looking to insure your MH for 3 months before you were going to sell it. Maybe you should have kept that MH insured & SORN’d until you paid the (minimum) 6 months road tax to get it MOT’d and take it out to Spain for 3 months.

I can’t remember anything about 3 months insurance.
I live in Spain and sold my uk registered motorhome, I was hoping that someone had returned to the UK with a uk built motorhome on Spanish plates.
You get more in a uk van than a European van more for your money.

The simple answer is no, at least not legally. If you are selling a foreign registered vehicle in the UK the new buyer would have to register it with the DVLA before it could be driven, it would also need to be taxed and insured. Insuring a foreign registered car in the UK is very difficult, taxing one is impossible. A foreign registered car can be kept in the UK for a maximum of 6 months before it has to be registered with the DVLA and it has to be insured all of the time it is parked or driven on the road.

I think the only way you could do it would be to buy one privately from someone who had just returned. I very much doubt whether any dealer would touch it, and they certainly wouldn't sell it without re-registering it.

That would restrict your choice by a ridiculous amount, and I think you would be lucky to find one at all.

And hope it is not a stolen one as could be very risky when you arrive back in Spain.

You are still leaving yourself open to prosecution. Once the vehicle is sold in the UK it is classed as an imported vehicle. If you buy or sell a road vehicle in the UK whether imported or not, you must notify the DVLA and you will be unable to legally drive it until it has tax, insurance and MOT unless MOT exempt. The only legal way of doing it would be to have the vehicle transported out of the UK.

Even privately it would be illegal. Once the owner brings it into the UK and sells it, it becomes an imported vehicle and would need to be registered, taxed, insured and MOT'd in the UK before it can be legally driven.

Yes you probably could, but you would have to be here when it arrived and drive it virtually straight back onto the ferry. Then of course you could possibly find when you returned with it (as others have pointed out) that it had been stolen.

In your original post though you were talking about buying from a dealer.

How would you find out about one being brought into Britain if you are in Spain? How could you be sure it was suitable for what you want? It all sounds very chancy to me.
