The rocker switch on the left has 3 positions which the central position (0) is switched off (no power). When you flick the switch upwards (cab) it means that the leisure battery is being charged from the vehicle's alternator when the engine is running. When you arrive on site with engine and ignition switched off you then need 12 volt power direct from the leisure battery alone which is when you flick the rocker switch to the down position. When no power is required you just flick it back to the central position.
The 12 volt power switch has nothing to do with mains electric at all as they are totally independent of each other. To protect the 12 volt circuit you will have a block of fuses but the mains electric supply is protected by the trip switches at the miniature circuit breakers (MCB's). The onboard battery charger is only functional when connected to an external mains hook up supply either at a bollard on the campsite or connected to mains supply from the house.
No, the rocker switch can be put in the central position when connected up to the mains supply as the onboard battery charger will still charge the battery. You only need to flick the 12 volt power to position 3 when you need 12 volt power on site such as to operate the water pump and to supply a current to the electric flush toilet (if it's not a manual flush) and all the 12 volt lights for example.
However, all you have to do is conduct a test yourself anyway by the use of a voltmeter to confirm what you need to know. Switch OFF the mains supply and take a reading at the battery terminals with the voltmeter then switch back ON the mains power again and then take a second reading which the voltage should increase which indicates that the charger is active. The same method can be applied regarding position 1 to check to see if the battery is being charged from the vehicle's alternator.
My neighbour said before fitting the New Leisure battery he did a meter test when connected up to the house.
He said he paced the Multi Meter on the leisure battery terminals and it read 13 on the multi meter.
This was done before the leisure battery was placed in its fitting postion.
The leisure battery fits under the drivers seat.
When the battery was placed in postion and was putting the terminals on the new leisure battery the black was place first on then the red.
The drivers seat where the casing is is metal. What happened when he was fastening the positive red terminal the spanner touch the metal frame and they was a flash and the spanner stuck to the casing for a couple of seconds.
When he got the spanner off and put the multi meter on the battery it’s showed no reading.
That’s why I can not use the leisure battery facility
Please can you all help I want to take my wife away asap who is recovering from a long illness I need your help please everybody
------------- It's nice to be important. But its more important to be nice.
Right ok 1st thing stay claim and don't get too upset about it.
It may well be a a simple and quick fix.
Now it sounds like he's shorted out the battery. If all the fusers are fine and things work on EHU. With on issue and no cables are damaged. Then It's the battery that been damaged. If it's any signs of damage your better off not trying to charge it up. Really it needs checking out for any damage it's most likely had it I'm afraid. Any battery seller, auto election or garage can easily test batteries car or leisure battery it makes no difference.
A simple one to try is motosave just call in they should be able to do it as you wait.
You can try taking it back to Halfords tell them its not working see what they say.
If you really are having problems finding someone to test it.I think you got someone to fix a water heater see if they can help.
