Just bought a1996 Granvia which we have only had a couple of weeks .Our first Campervan and now the side door won't open from outside or from inside. It's a soft close sliding door. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how was it resolved . Many thanks

Have you googled the Granvia owners club as there is more chance of finding the answer there?

Welcome to UKCS. If you Google, it looks like there are YouTubes & also a website called Fixya -
https://www.fixya.com/cars/t27157864-sliding_door_1996_toyota_granvia_not
That link looks incomplete… sorry.
Oh, might be worth doing a Search in this forum in case it’s cropped up before.
Good luck & let us know how you get on.

Probably need to remove the door card to see why lock is failing to release. Often just down to a broken spring.

We have the card off and the mechanism seems to be ok. My husband , son in law and three garages have looked at it and are stumped. Fuses checked. Doesn't seem to be an obvious reason. One garage says if we can get a complete new lock they would replace it but won't touch it without the new lock. Thanks for replying. Elaine

Most door locks fail to open due to a small broken spring only about 20mm long and find it fallen right down inside bottom of door. Just looking at lock it is not easily seen where it has come from until you see a new locking mechanism.

We have had a magnet in the bottom of the door. No spring found. plenty of rusty flakes. Thanks for the tip though. Elaine.

Does anyone know of any company/ garage that would change the door from a soft close to just a key opening/closing? We live in Derbyshire. We are getting desperate. Elaine
