I have tried to set up the double bed on my 1993 Autosleeper Clubman. The nearside mattress pulls out part of the way to the intermediate position, but then stops solidly, clearly something is blocking it. The catch in the middle under the mattress doesn't seem to release anything! It should apparently continue out till it meets the offside mattress. Has anyone else had a similar problem?
We had an AS Clubman the same age. There’s a catch in the middle of the frame & yes, one side could be awkward. The other side always behaved perfectly. From memory, we had to push the lever down at the same time as pulling the frame out. We quickly learnt NOT to push the seat back fully in the morning, to leave it an inch or so forward; you don’t want that final “click”closed, it’ll be easy to pull out later.
Worthwhile taking the cushion off & lubricating the mechanism too.
It’s also worth joining the free Autosleeper Forum (there’s one you can pay for join too, but we didn’t), as there’s lots of helpful specific information on there. Your question will probably have been answered there too.
Sorted the problem!😁 I think the problem was caused in the main by the fact that it hasn't been used as a double bed and the runners were seized. A bit of brute force and WD40 has freed it up. The near side mattress slides all the way across to meet the offside now, all good!😁😂
