Happened again, flat battery, thought I had it sorted, invested in solar panel, but failed to charge enough to turn over. Now I'm concerned if I disconnect battery to charge, I will loose the immobilizer/ alarm or is there a way to get around the problem. Any views much appreciated
Welcome to UKCS.
How old is the battery? They’re not immortal.
Is it the leisure battery in the MH or the vehicle battery? Our solar panel charges the leisure battery, not the vehicle battery which turns over the engine.
I’m not an expert in any way, but as far as I know, the alarm won’t work if the battery is goosed. But if you search the forum, an alarm won’t stop someone stealing your vehicle if they really want to (see the stolen vehicle database here). If you search the forum, there’s a huge amount about batteries too.
I’m sure people who can advise more specifically will be along soon.
Charging on the vehicle not an option? Most vehicles removing the battery will not reset the immobiliser, but you may lose the radio code/if coded radio. You could always ask the dealers.

My friends reckon I should be certified anyway. And they should know!!
Do you have a spare battery that has charge, that you could attach via jump leads to the jump start points under the bonnet. This will trickle enough power to hold everything whilst you replace the battery.
I don't think the solar charger panel will keep it topped up enough, may be wrong though.
Does your van let you select which battery you want to charge, or is it 'smart' and alternate depending on which needs it?
Has the loss of battery affected the ECU which can happen?
