Hi...I have a Gas Safe friend of a friend many miles away but he's passing by mine in a few weeks time & he's kindly offered to connect up the gas services in my bus conversion.
He isn't aware of the setup I'm requiring & nor is he particularly interested...just told me to make sure to have everything I'll need come the day.
Thing is...I haven't got much of a clue as to what I need & as I'm not in direct contact with the fella then I really don't want to bother him beyond the favor he's already offered.
So, if you can suffer my ignorance...I have a Safefill bottle..a 30mBar/8mm regulator, a 2-way 8mm manifold, some 8mm copper & several 8mm compression fittings so's to feed an oven & hob. This suggests to my simple understanding that I'm short of a rubber hose with suitable ends to connect the bottle to the regulator?
If correct then what hose ends/connectors am I to look for please?
In addition, if I may...I've now acquired a Joolca Hottap instant gas shower. This comes with a rubber gas hose that connects directly to the Safefill bottle via Joolca's supplied regulator.
Is it possible, or even allowed, to somehow connect oven/hob & shower to my single bottle...or do I actually need to blow another £230 on a 2nd bottle so's to feed things (regulators?)separately?
All input very much appreciated please.
Gill

Most caravans and campervans run all their gas appliances off one gas bottle, but have a second as a back-up spare. It is very awkward to run out of gas halfway through cooking a meal and not having a spare to hand. You don't need a separate bottle for different appliances, they can all be connected to one via a suitable manifold. You will of course need a suitable high-pressure hose to connect the bottle up, and any decent caravan spares establishment should be able to supply the correct one.

As a matter of interest, what kind of bus do you have?

Is the regulator a bottle top or a bulkhead fitting ? If it is a bulkhead fitting then you need a pol fitting gas pipe from caravan shop to connect bottle to regulator. Once supply is regulated then your you can connect shower direct to gas supply you do not need another regulator to bottle.

Your installation should look thus. Gas bottle installed in a gas locker with a vent in the floor to allow any escaped gas out. Your regulator should be screwed to gas locker wall above top of gas bottle. Connected with pol pigtail as described. Piping from regulator outlet should be all metal gas piping to all appliances. You need an isolator valve in the pipe to each appliance to allow separate isolation of each appliance if required. All piping should be bracketed to wall & so on. If your friend has only experience of domestic gas & has not worked on installations in vehicles or caravans then he will probably have as little idea how to do the job as you.

I have given you the basics but if you want a safe & permanent installation you really need somebody who has experience of lpg installation in vehicles.

Thank you all very much for your replies...much appreciated.
And apologies for my apparent ignorance in responding....unfortunately I fell quite unwell within hours of posting this request for help & I've only now recovered sufficiently.

Interesting! I was a bus driver many years ago, which was my interest. I did drive Dennis Darts at Luton Airport, as an agency driver, for a few months around the time yours was new. My main bus driving days though were in the 1970s. I have more recently driven Routemasters on wedding hires, but I am now retired.

I'd be interested of some pictures of your conversion, it's something I always wanted to do. Glad to hear you are feeling better now.
