I’ve. Just put a large deposit down on a vw campervan and it was converted 2 years ago looking at it today it looked brand new the sink and cooker hadn’t been used at all, but they said theve been camping in it 4 times but surely they would have used the sink it was all brand new should I be wary about buying it ?
Some people take their dishes to the campsite pot wash rather than washing them in the van. I’d be more worried about a dirty sink because it would make me wonder how clean the toilet was. I’d be ashamed to have a dirty cooker, but again some people heat ready meals in the microwave or BBQ outside or go to the pub.
Sounds like you’re having second thoughts about buying the campervan.
As above some people only have a Campervan to sleep in. If using sites with full facilities cafe for Breakfast then out all day and eat whilst out. I would be more bothered at the mileage it has done compared to the age of it. Many people buy up used delivery vans with high mileage and then convert them.
We had our first VW for 11 years, and I certainly didn't use the sink, preferring to use the campsite facilities. The van was used a lot though. We are a very careful retired couple, look after things, so whoever got our van got a bargain.
We swapped it for another VW, different set up and Euro 6 engine.
i would be more bothered by the fact that the conversion was done during the lockdown when the price of these shot up! they became ever so "trendy" to own all of a sudden! i would be wanting a full survey done considering that you would be paying in excess of £30,000 of this. the kits for conversion are easily available ready made to just slot in place of something that was nothing more than a panel van.
you then have to check throughly the base vehicle over as you would in the normal way of buying a vehicle, servicing, history etc etc
I designed my PVC so that she has a decent size kitchen with a sink and a 2-burner induction hob.
The sink is not used unless I pitch quite far away from the facilities block and it is raining cats and dogs outside.
Otherwise I would do my washing up at the facilities block once a day in the evening.
Rinsing of salad vegetables would be done in the sink, however, it uses very little water.
I had stayed at campsites with no facilities except for EHU, fresh water and CDP/MSP, and had used my own onboard facilities.
I carry a Wastemaster (always) and an Aquaroll (if required) as they are easier to use than having to drive the van to a MSP to fill up and to dump the grey waste tank.
