are you talking about the wall board and the leak it seems to have? firstly if you have only just bought this then i would be going back to the seller, hopefully you bought it from a dealer, and asking them to get it sorted

Look for the Talbot Owners forum or group. Friends have a P-reg Talbot and are inventive about repairs, mostly DIY. (You have to expect ongoing maintenance & repairs for a vehicle of that age.)
I expect it was a private sale - most dealers won’t sell something that old because they can’t give a warranty. (Speaking from experience of part X ing our 25 year old MH.)

It depends if you bought it privately or from a dealer. If you bought it from a dealer, they would have been obliged to point out any significant faults and even though the van is 30 years old, it should still be of satisfactory quality consistent with its age, mileage etc. Hopefully, you could reject it for a full refund.

Buying privately is trickier. It's up to you to satisfy yourself that the vehicle is in an acceptable condition. On the sellers side, it must be their's to sell, roadworthy and as described.

If you're stuck with it, you could either try to sell it for whatever you can get, of get stuck in to a serious amount of DIY. This may not necessarily be very expensive, but could well be time consuming.

No I bought it privately. What I want to know is can it be fixed ? The leak is outside and I've been told I could use a sealant

I'm not quite sure what the photo shows. Is the exposed ply dry or damp ?

Obviously you will want to fix the source of any leaks. This often will mean removing trims and replacing them using a suitable mastic. That's fine, but you may find the screws are rusted and the wooden framework behind the metal skin is damp and rotten. This is not always obvious and sometimes it's smell that gives it away.

You can find a number of videos on Youtube about repairing damp in motorhomes. Might be worth a look.

Repairs of this nature are usually quite cheap to do if you DIY, but horrendously expensive to have done. It's the labour that cost the money, not the materials, and that will be a very time consuming job. I did a similar job on my 31 year old caravan recently and the total cost came to under £200, but I had previously been quoted a minimum of £2,000 by a caravan dealer. They added that if they found anything else that wasn't obvious, that would be extra.

I did buy my caravan from a dealer as a trade-sale (no warranty) but I'd had it 6 years before the damp appeared. Can't really complain about that as it was fine when we bought it.

Best Regards,
Colin
