Not that we have found, but they all vary and some will take the proverbial. All you can do is check.

In real terms then it's not actually an awning but a canopy so a site shouldn't charge extra if the canopy can be retracted when required. The main reason why campsites charge for awnings is because the groundsheet restricts the growth of the grass below turning it yellow and needs to be treated which costs money. A retractable canopy doesn't affect the grass growth at all so there is no logical reason for the site to charge extra for a canopy.

C&CC wanted to charge us for a wind out Omnistor awning. I asked & they said yes, it did count as an awning. So we didn’t use it: site fees are expensive enough.

Certainly no extra charge on any continental campsite ... can't vouch for UK, though.

We have a Decathlon tarp that we had converted so it could slide into the awning rail mainly as a sun shelter, I didnt think it counted as an awning until I went to put it up at a C&CC site (Delamont) one day, the warden literally ran from reception to our pitch to tell us (out of breath) we hadn't paid for an awning and anyway we were within 6m of the next unit so there was no way we could put it up.
Funny but when the kids from another unit started to cycle between our car and our caravan (apparently our car was the turning point) he was nowhere to be found.

That confirms what I said about the CCC response to our wind-out awning.
Never been an issue on independent sites or sites affiliated to CAMC.

Sites make their own rules, so no universal answer I'm afraid, but with the way sites seem to be adding charges for this and that in a profiteering kind of way, no guarantee that what holds true this season will do so next!

In general terms, CAMC sites don't charge for awnings, but do allocate larger pitches if you want one, in the case of your LR where it's not on the side and it may not extend much beyond the normal swing of the rear door, I suspect they may be happy for you to use a 'non-awning' pitch, You'd have to ask them and explain its on the back rather than side, only concern may be the overall length of your outfit, but likely less than many a MH or caravan. The awning/non-awning pitch sizes are about maintaining the fire gap between units side to side, or utilising smaller spaces that can't accommodate a main unit plus awning on the side.

We were once asked to pay for a pup tent that was under our pullout awning. Only used it to store chairs and table overnight. We didn't pay, just took it down.
