Hi,I have a fiat ducato ,Swift select 184 on a 23 plate,is it right that when I depress the clutch to start it ,the handbrake realises and when I rev the engine it also realises the handbrake .Thanks
And I'm sure it would illegal over here and I'm guessing every other country in the world. A very very dangerous thing to happen. I can't see how that would happen.
My Citroen car releases the electric handbrake when clutch depressed AND a gear is selected, BUT not until accelerator pedal depressed too. -Basically in a position to start driving! But it also has 'brake hold', so delay in release until car starts to move.
There are a host of safety interlocks that allow or disallow the release! - don't think it will release if a door is open etc.
CERTAINLY nothing as simple as JUST depressing clutch! - IF it is doing that, suggest there may be a system fault that needs attention - IT'S DANGEROUS!
It is a good idea to depress clutch when you start engine but it needs to be out of gear. If you have left van in first gear while parked you then depress clutch to start it & rev the engine the handbrake may well release as in normal driving with van standing still in first gear handbrake on you then rev engine to release handbrake to move off.
