Going to look at our first possible campervan in a couple of weeks. Looks fabulous and meets our main requirement in having lengthways fixed beds.
The Base Van is a Vauxhall Movano extra long wheelbase, late 2015 with 116k miles on the clock. Has its MOT (no advisories) and has been regularly serviced.
Searching around there seems to be real van snobbery about certain makes and models
I would therefore appreciate any honest comments about the Movano, particularly from people who actually have one.
Many thanks.
It looks to be well reviewed. If the layout suits you, and MOT is ok as you say, just check how recent the Habitation Service is so you know what you might have to sort out later.
The MOT checks the base vehicle, the Hab Service checks the gas, electrics etc of the campervan. I speak from experience: base vehicle MOT ok (though a tyre wall blew out, that was scary: tyre age isn’t part of the mot). The MH itself: gas not working to fridge or heating, gas flue blocked, gas pipe to cooker perished. None of these is a deal breaker, but a vehicle as old as yours with a high mileage will have a few niggles. Best to be aware.
Must admit to it being an extremely rare van on any site we have been on.
One of our neighbours had one and only kept it less than a year. Just couldn't get on with it as they found it very cramped.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
We had a conversion done on a similar sized van - a 2014 Citroen Dispatch. Loved it & didn't have to pay the VW Kult tax.
Cramped . Horses for courses. Used to small tents. Now in a 6m PVC that many folk would find cramped. I guess that's why there is a market for massive motorhomes. For us it's plenty big enough & we only went bigger as we are travelling far more now & my wife's health appreciates a bit more comfort.
