Hi All,
I have a campervan with a gas fridge and a gas hob/oven. If I fire up the fridge on gas, no problem. But if I ignite one gas hob ring as well, the fridge goes out. This happens vice a versa as well.
Each works fine on its own, but together it will not work....even with a full gas bottle.
I have no gas leaks, so does anyone know what can cause this?
Thank you and safe travels.

Possibly the Regulator faulty and needs replacing as the diagphrams do deteriorate over time by swelling as the gas reacts with the rubber, and can restrict the flow of gas’s

First suspect as mentioned has to be the regulator! They do fail, and should routinely be changed at 10 years old as a safety/maintenance item. Date of manufacture will be marked either on label, or stamped on body. On the subject, flexible pigtails (the rubber hose between cylinder and regulator) should be replaced every 5 years! - not likely to be the problem, but not unknown for disintegration debris to block the pipe.

A single cylinder inlet type regulator are only around £22, and fitting is straightforward so a competent DIY job (so long as you do all the leak checks properly after fitting!), or not too expensive if a professional engineers job.

Indications are a gas flow problem, so worth checking that all the valves are fully turned on (operating lever should be inline with the pipe), before blaming regulator. Service engineers are notorious for turning valves off unbeknown to customers!

Good luck.

Hi Birdman 101 & Monty 15,
Thank you for your help.
I had decided that it was reduced gas flow somewhere, so I bought a new regulator and hose, but it didn't solve the problem. All valves are open.
I will check the manufacturers date on regulator to see that I have not be sold an old one!
Thanks again.

There is always a possibility if not the Regulator that the pipe work is partially blocked. These can get blocked over time with the oil leaching from the gas and pigtail. May be worth disconnecting the pipe at the manifold and the gas bottle and blowing it through with a pump.
