I've just bought a  Frankia secondhand from Germany and it is fitted with a SOG as are most motorhomes in Germany. My experience so far is that without a small amount of loo fluid there is a certain amount of odour. As yet I have not used it enough to give a finite impression.

Thanks for the info Nick hope you enjoy your Frankia nice wheels.

And Den a SOG is an addition fitted to the cassette in the loo which is supposed to allow you to use your loo without useing any chemicals at all. They tell me that when you open the top of your loo a vaccum is caused which starts the small electric fan and vents the ouders to the outside.

Sounds great but does it work l ask ?

I fitted a SOG to our M/H last year & found it to be well worth the money it eliminates any smells in the M/H from people using the loo saves money by not having to buy chemicals, you can empty daily thus saving having to carry a full cassette the only down side is that it is slightly more smelly when emptying. We bought ours from www.vangear.co.uk & would recomend them.

Regards

Mary/Richard

Our Hymer has a SOG (read it on the details, had no idea what it was!) My experience was that it does elimate odour but we decided to use a small amount of chemical  because the contents didn't "breakdown" quite as much.  Won't go into details, you get the picture!!!  Michaela

What a lot of people do, is bung in a washing tablet, as that breaks it all down, cheaper than the 'chemicals' and dosn't harm septic tanks :)

I'M HAVING A SOG FITTED THIS FRIDAY. I WAS ADVISED THAT COS I WAS GOING TO GERMANY IT MAY BE ADVISABLE. ALSO WE WERE ADVISED TO USE A SMALL AMOUNT OF MILTON SOLUTION INTO OUR WATER TANK THIS KILLS BACTERIA AS WELL. A LOT GREENER A LOT BETTER SMELLING THAN THE BLUE STUFF. ADDED PROB FOR PEOPLE WITH LACK OF SPACE IS THAT WE BUY BOTTLED WATER AND USE THAT. THIS IDEA WORKS FOR US. GO GREEN AND GET A SOG
