I'd like to put a small storage box on the back of my Symbol. I've looked at Fiamma and Omnistor and they're HUGE. I only want something to put hook ups and water pipe in. Maybe yellow leveller things too - you know, things that are always wet and mucky when you want to store them. Symbols don't have any storage space accessible from outside. (Though otherwise Symbols are brilliant and I love ours to bits)
Anyone any ideas? (Beeny boxes are not suitable for panel conversions)
Hi Aspley, I've been in the garage and measured the box, which by the way, i think is called a tool storage box, it was on the shelf in Halfords with the red metal mechanics tool boxes, cost i think was £15.99 , great price to pay for what i use the box for , just to get my cobb , bottles of beer, pipes and my extention hook-up cable to the ukcs meetings.
Sorry Aspley, but the measurements are in old money, inches !!! can't get me head round mm, it's an age thing
28ins in lenth / 18ins deep & 18ins wide
Hope this helps you M8

I shot out the door with my tape measure - and - - I think it's too big to fit around the bike rack. But never mind - the IDEA is brilliant - so all I need to do now is look for a metal toolbox less than 18" wide.
I'm really grateful to you (and who cares if neither of us can tell a millimeter from a minibus)
No Problem M8, sorry to hear it won't fit, Ho ! and just one last thing , my tool box isn't metal , it's made of ABS plastic , it was on the shelf with metal tool boxes though
Kevin just a thought ! couldn't you fix the box onto the bike rack ?

I hadn't thought of plastic - I suppose because I thought it might disappear in a car park - but if it were bolted on it ought to be as difficult to shift as metal?
Yes I thought of using the bike rack too but unless I could get something about 7"-8" across to fit between the rack and the back door it would stop me using the rack for bikes.
When I saw your idea I thought I could fit a box to the back step on the side of the van where we don't usually open the door (That's where the loo is) but the bus curves out sightly towards the bottom so it limits the space. Plenty of room for a narrow box though
hi , are you still a member, and have pics of this storage box. I'm thinking of turning a roof box through 90degrees and drilling it onto one of the back doors of my trigano. Sounds a bit brutal though... advice appreciated !
Let me know how you get on (pics please) as I'm considering something similar on the back of our van. I'm limited for space as we use the rear doors & the nearside door already has a spare wheel mounted on it. A bit nervous of drilling too!
