I've been a member of the AA for many years however my wife phoned them today to find out what the score was if our motorhome breaks down and they said that they only covered vehicles up to 18ft long. As ours is a fair bit longer that would appear to rule them out.
Who would you recommend for motorhome recovery etc., bearing in mind that most of our use will be in remote areas of Scotland?
I am with RAC Arrival through C & C C. They cover any length of motorhome. I double checked this with both RAC & C & C C last year as someone on here said that it didn't, apparently that only applies to self built motorhomes where they may be covered by special agreement.

Thanks for that. I've had a look at that thread and also and the C&CC website (I'm already a member) and their RAC "Arrival" service does look a decent option, although (given I have AA cover for our cars and motorbikes already) it looks like it'd cost £73 for the roadside and recovery service and another £22 to add my wife as an additional member.
I checked the Caravan Club website (We're members of that as well) and they have a "Mayday" policy operated by Green Flag which gives comprehensive cover for a vehicle at £62. Is anyone using that and aware if their are weight/length restrictions for motorhomes?

R.A.C. membership covers the member, not a particular vehicle and applies whatever you are driving or if you are a passenger in someone else's vehicle

------------- To be a success in life there are 2 rules to follow
"R.A.C. membership covers the member, not a particular vehicle and applies whatever you are driving or if you are a passenger in someone else's vehicle"
That's the problem with it for me. We already have AA cover for our cars/motorbikes (covers everything except the motorhome) and as either of us could be driving the motorhome it'd be costing us £95 just to cover the one vehicle (given the any vehicle part isn't of interest), compared to £62 with the Caravan Club.
But steve, if you took out the RAC Arrival for both of you it would cover all the other vehicles whichever one of you was using them as well as the motorhome & you could cancel the AA cover.

That's for now but when your AA membership runs out you can leave them and stay with the RAC and get the C&CC benefits. If you pay the AA monthly, couldn't you just cancel the membership? We're in the RAC and have just joined C&CC and, although I'm the member, we've both got cards and we both have the same cover.
