Hiya,

A friend has asked me to check this out for him, but has only limited information. He says he has seen a 'K-reg Talbot motorhome on sale for £1500'.

I don't have any other information, but would appreciate some advice from experienced users. Does this sound ok? What kind of things should he be looking out for? Are their potential serious problems which may explain a low price? Are structural problems an issue? Are talbots to be avoided?

We don't have much experience in this!!!!

Many thanks,

C

It sounds suspiciously cheap to me.

You don’t say which model or if petrol or diesel.

Talbots are mechanically quite simple and reliable but have a tendency to rot.

Check the wheel arches, cab floor, doors, bonnet all common areas for tinworm.

Check the prices on ebay. Most Talbot coachbults of that age tend to make £5000 upwards. Express's about £2500 but there are always bargains

It's a petrol, which I guess makes it less desirable. I will pass on your comments. I've looked at ebay, and I think he needs to get more info re. the model etc.!

Cheers for the advice.

Hi,

I agree they appear mechanically sound but do rot if not looked after. Does sound cheap but depends who is selling it. Some people do get rid of bargains because they just  want rid. Other people get rid of rubbish.

I always take note of the wording in the advert and avoid the obvious like 'first to see will buy' and 'genuine reason for sale' or 'needs a little TLC' or 'will sale through MOT'.

Bill
