Hello everyone

we have decided on a hymer motorhome, and as you might expect a lot of them are LHD, and usually a bit cheaper if they are - can anyone give me any advice about the pors and cons of LHD. We will go to Europe once a year at least, but most of the mileage will be in the UK. (We have driven abroad in a LHD hire car, but that is our only experience!!)

Thanks

Hi Chris,

We have a LHD Hymer and it really is no problem at all.  Somebody told me the insurance was more expensive but it isn't.  I drive it both here and abroad and after the initial getting used to it (mainly going to change gear with left hand!) I don't even think about it now.  Go for it, they are cheaper.  We bought ours from deepcar motorhomes in sheffield.  They import them, are not at all pushy and we've had great after sales service.  Good luck!

As missmally just said, it really is no problem at all. My biggest problem is getting back in a right hand drive vehicle afterwards and still trying to position myself nearer to the left - this can lead to mounting the curb if not very careful! (thankfully I'm careful :0) )

My thoughts when we bought ours was I would rather be on the 'wrong' side of the road in a country where I can read all the road signs and am used to the driving styles and then be on the correct side in other countries....
