Its just for the Purist amongst us.....courst there's nothing wrong with watercooled...but not in a factory aircooled like some peeps doing. Bigger engine like a 1.8 Subaru or r something in a Beetle or bay/Split is just not right...like that...

Cheers.

I’ve been reading the various VW threads for the past few months and it has inspired me to get on with the T2 I started to rebuild several years ago. It was taken off the road shortly after we used it for the eclipse whenever that was (2000?).

The vehicle needed a complete rebuild. Schofields didn’t blink a eye when I told them I needed the bottom 6inches of a camper and nothing against Alan’s panels but I have given up on the vehicle so many times over the ensuing years that I now have great admiration for those who actual get them back on the road.

Over the years I’ve rebuilt MG’s, Landrovers and several Prewar Morris’s even a BMC1100 but nothing I ever worked on is so soul destroying as this VW and I can fully understand why you see so many abandoned half finished projects.

This week, with my new enthusiasm I have replaced the OSR wheelarch and I am beginning to see an end to the welding, (only the OSF wheelarch and front valance to finish).

Why I started this restoration I will never know it was far too rotten to be economic and we now have a larger motorhome so I doubt we will ever use it again. Maybe I’m just crazy.
