We have just bought a left hand drive van and I found it ok to drive so far drove it back from London on Saturday and apart from just needing to get used to not going to far to the middle of a roundabout I had no problems. How about test driving one first to se how you go
Mine is LHD.You sometimes get problems with visibilty at certain types of junctions and you have to "adjust" your position! I have a warning sign on the back.If you have a passenger who can drive, that's a BIG help. Not really a problem overall!!
We're on our second LHD and it really isn't any problem at all once you've sorted out your blind spots. We used a mirror on the last van, now have a blind spot camera on current van as we couldn't find anywhere to mount a mirror.
Thanks there is certainly a big difference in the prices, not to sure yet about it though do they trade in ok when u want to change the van, mind if we buy one it will prob be the only one we will have we are retiring age now.
Hi Corrie, we purchased a large LHD Hymer E690 in May of this year, and to be honest it did'nt take long to get used to it. You rely heavily on the offside mirror as there is a tendancy to creep over the centre line. I hardly need to use the nearside mirror.
My first driving experience with it was negotiating the narrow hilly streets of Torquay, where we collected it from. Driving on the motorway or dual carriageway is no problem, as there should'nt be anything coming towards you. Heres a tip for you. When your front passenger gets very nervous or lets out the occassional scream ........you'll know that you are too close to that centre line. (lol)
If you are considering visiting Europe, LHD will be to your advantage.
TTFN, Jock.

We went for the LHD option as we would rather be on the 'wrong' side of the road in the Uk where I can read and understand most of the road signs and then be on teh corrcet side when we are abroad...where we have to think about some of the road signs and driving styles!!!
