Some advice needed please: - Does the liesure battery charge up direct from the house electric supply when the orange lead is plugged into input on Motorhome connection, or do I have to remove the liesure battery and charge it up as you do with a car battery?? How does the liesure battery obtain its charge whilst on site, does the vehicle engine have to be running?? Sorry for confusion. hope someone understands what I am on about
Agreed, that is if you have some sort of charger fitted and it is switched on. Not all vans have a means of charging on board. The leisure battery as well as the starter battery should charge when driving.
According to your information you own a Peugeot Talbot motorhome. Can you give any further details, i.e. what model, conversion and someone may be able to give you more assistance. Generally speaking, motorhome battery charging occurs in three seperate ways.
1. Whilst the engine is running.
2. While on EHU on site or at home.
3. By disconnecting the leisure battery and remove to bench top charging, say in your garage, during a long period of inactivity, e.g. winter time.
With my Talbot I use the 'orange' electric lead from my normal indoor house socket and plug it into the side of the van. In the wardrobe there is a box that is the battery charger and I switch this on and a red light comes on. I do the same on site hookup.
When going along you don't need to touch the 'thingie' in the wardrobe as the leisure battery is wired to the main vehicle battery and receives a trickle of charge through the alternator in the engine.

The Motorhome I have is a Peugeot Talbot Express 1994 Coach build 2.litre petrol engine based on Elddis body work Model Voyager 3.
On the switch control panel are various switches for water pump and a switch to convert liesure battery to car battery to work interior lights, but to know if the switch is on or off is very confusing, and whether the interior lights when static are working off the leisure or car battery
Anyhow I'll try and see how I get on by trying to charge the leisure battery with EHU orange cable from the house supply.
I think Brenda has given you more info than I have. She seems to have a similar set up to you. I did a search on the net for info on your model and the electric panel without success. I hope hooking it up will help to solve your problem
