We're the proud new owners of an Elddis Peugeot Autoquest Suntor 400.  This is our first motor home and so sorry to sound naieve, but can anyone tell us if the over cab bed has a weight limit?  We know it will obviously be okay for children - but would it also be suitable for two adults?  Any more useful tips or information would be gratefully received too!

Hi bats

Just out of daftness my wife and I climbed the access ladder to see what it would be like for two adults. We thought that it was quite claustraphobic, especially close to the roof, with two of us but it was fine for our 12 year old grand daughter and her friend. To be quite honest it is used as a stowage area for some of our light bulky gear. I would imagine that your Suntor has the same 'luton' as ours as it is made by Explorer under a different badge but your 400 is longer. (see gallery pic).

Hope that helps

My teenage daughter who is as big as me slept in the overcab a few times with a friend who was taller although probably not heavier, also one weekend she brought her friends who are boys, twins of 15 at the time, and they slept in the overcab bed. It was an old Eldiss and the bed seemed to be very strong.

Thanks very much for your replies - the reason that i am asking is that we are not what one might call an "average" couple - i am 6 foot 4 and built accordingly !!

I hired my last van to 6 Kiwi rugby players - the shortest one was 6'4 and about 19 stone, and there were two of them in the Luton........ so unless your OH is 6'9 and 28 stone you should be safe enough

I'm sure it would be fine. We only use ours for storage as the lack of sit-up headroom and awkward trips to the loo (cold aluminium ladder in the dark) make it too impracticle when there's a perfectly good bed in the form a converted dinette.

Bats

No problem as regards safety but I would advise against two adults using it "long term". We used to have the Eldidd Autoquest and we used the ohead cab once only for two nights. Very  claustrophobic- and certainly not conducive to romance! (whether or not you have kids in the van at the same time)
