Hi all,
Any idea's on my problem here. I bought a new Fiat ducato motorhome last year but have a small problem with the mileometer. When I go away no problem. If I don't go away for a month and use the motorhome once or twice during the month I find that when I start the motorhome up, the time clock goes back to 0.00 and the last trip of about 7 miles disapears off my mileometer. The motorhome always starts ok but as I said if it has been standing for 2-3 weeks and I make a small journey, the next time I start up the mileage has gone back and my clock shows 0.00.
Any idea's appreciated, thanks,
Mike
Hi, this could be due to the battery voltage falling on start up to a level were the 12V constant supply needed to maintain the clock/speedo settings falls below its threshold level. Battery voltage when fully charged should be 12.6V so a quick check with a multi meter before starting may reveal this has fallen. As the engine takes load on starting this voltage will fall further. It could just be due to current drain by the clock/radio memory/speedo/alarm etc or even a tired battery. If it persists it might be worth geting the current drain checked by an auto electrician.

John
