When we had our type 2, both boys slept in the awning, I had the bed, and poor old Barrie had to go up top!Now we are old and creaky with bad backs, and our boys are old enough to do their own thing,we would like to get another van.The logistics of parking , and not wanting two vehicles mean that we will have to get another vw, but we find that the bed is .just too cozy in hotweather How do other people manage!.
Well we in ours when is was it was the hottest time last month one of us sleep in the bed with the slider door open and another in the awning on the blow up bed.
Sounds like the tradition vw layout no longer suits your needs.
have a look at a large dealer at other layouts.
Ours is a hightop van conversion which has 2 singles, but they are a little narrow. If it's your only vehicle the romahome layout may be better for you, depends what facilities you need.
you can find convertions with full width r&r beds but of course you have less cupboard space--we sleep with the sliding door open in hot weather with a curtain across the door-ok on a campsite but not good when wild camping--you can get a device which locks the tailgate slightly open-more secure & gives you a bit more air by your heads--
Our VW has 2 single beds down each side made up from the driver/passenger and the spit rear bench which is great for me and my sis. When I go away with OH and girls, the girls have the van and me and OH use blow up bed in the awning.
Been away this weekend and just had sun roof up and windows partially open.
