Hi there, can't help with the motorhome, but I would think you would want to hire one local to you. Probably get more choice there too than up here. Hiring is expensive, as are ferries to the islands. Cal Mac do a rover type ticket, but I'm not sure which islands it covers. Motorhomes and caravans are not welcome on Colonsay. There will not be a lot of campsites on the islands, but you can do some wild camping.
I would think you will find lots of info on the internet about the islands and the ferries, and it will be a lovely holiday.
