Have a 1981 T25 with original solex twin carb set up which needs replacing

Can anybody recommend a good supplier for the twin weber or has anybody used an alternative and if so how do you find it please.

2L air cooled, Justkampers can't help, they only sell the chokeless weber designed for the US market.

Thanks Annette

Hi, OH (aircooled mick) said, " it won't be cheap whatever route you go", Big Boys Toys in Thurrock, (next to Ikea, great meatballs!!), http://www.bigboyztoys.co.uk/ do a Weber conversion kit, costs about £375 I think. Or go to the club 80-90 website http://www.club80-90.co.uk/ and look for a link to a guy who goes under the name of 'Brickworks' he does a lot of carb stuff.

Hope this helps.

Just thought of something else try Tony at Microgiant 01268 782601, based out the back of Rettendon, don't know where you are in Essex but OH reckons Tony's somekind of Witch, for the dark arts he performed on our T25.

Hiya Annette,

I would advise against buying brand new carburettors, they are usually of a very poor build quality (I found this out for myself when I replaced a carburettor on my 1973 1300 beetle) and usually become useless very quickly (in my case just after 3,000 miles).

Personally, I would get your Solex 34 PDSIT carburettors professionally rebuilt (I also own a 2.0 litre aircooled Type 2 T3 aka "T25" campervan). Gower and Lee based in Bushey Heath, Watford have done a very good rebuild of my Solex 28 Pict-2 and Solex 34 Pict-3 carburettors. I currently use my Solex 28 Pict-2 on my 1973 beetle.

It may be expensive to get them profesionally rebuilt (approx 220 quid or a bit more), but it is definately worth the money !! My 1300 carburettor came back like brand new.

I hope this helps
