I think a number of local authorities are fearfull of undesireable people abusing any such facility. Having said that, we have written off to J Sainsbury's asking if it would be possible to allocate space at each store for a number of parking bays to accomodate motorhomes and allow parking up to 12 hours day or night.
The UK and Ireland are one of the most unfriendly places to take a motorhome. We have found it very difficult so have started towing a car. No wonder we all go abroad for the summer.
We are going to France for 6 weeks in May and won't be taking the car there as it is a lot easier to find stopping and parking places.
I have signed the petition but don't hold your breath. Unless it affects a member of the government then nothing will happen. The only member is Margaret Becket and she has got a caravan! Perhaps we could combine it with some global warming subject. You can bet something will happen then as it is the current political band wagon!!
